In American Society today, I believe we are more focused on instant gratification as opposed to delayed gratification. This is mainly effected, in my opinion, by the media with their fast food, minute dinners, hour photo and while you wait oil changes. Our technology as well, is focused on instant access and response to any given situation. From instant streaming video, to instant eMail on the pocket computers we call phones, Americans tend to do everything in the now and immediate time frame.
In the interest of playing devils advocate and trying to portray what I believe to be an important topic of discussion, I present the following arguments. There are a few who break the mold and follow a their own approach as always, however, I do believe that there are a select few around the world who stand to benefit from the generation of such media as Miracle Diet Pills and Instant Money. When you keep a people surrounded with only the appearance of the here and now, you tend to remove the inclinations associated with delayed gratification, such as putting in the time and effort to achieve something like a degree. We as a nation need to break ourselves from the monotonous daily grind of instant gratification and go back to fixing our broken products instead of buying new ones just to save a day or two on repair.
Another area we tend to see this instant gratification vs. delayed gratification exemplified well is in the case of diet and exercise. With all these amazing diet pills and steroids we pump into our bodies at the bequest of the media, it’s no wonder we are beginning to see all kinds of new and odd diseases and increases in liver failure. What ever happened to eating right and working out daily to achieve, naturally, the size and level of fitness you desire. In conclusion, I believe that our 24 hour global society and the general focus of our media channels provide for the public’s desire for instant gratification. Once we can break from the necessity for everything to be in the now we can begin to focus on the future.

Hello everyone, and welcome to my personal blog. I want to take some time to introduce, well me, and tell you a little about myself.
My name is Jared Lawandales and I love nature, people, and music. I grew up in Brevard County and spent most of my teenage years in Tampa, Florida. My first job was at the local Taco Bell and after a short time in the fast food industry I was promoted to a management position. After several years of Corporate Yum Brand management and operations training and deciding to leave my position as General Manager at Taco Bell, I tried the world of retail for a while. Taking a position as Assistant Manager for Pinch A Penny Pools, I spent the next two years as the public “face” of our store to the employees as well as the clients. This is where I found my calling. I enjoy meeting new people and the daily insight that comes from interaction with a diversity of people. After a long discussion with my friend and now current business partner, Steven Milanese, we decided to go into business for ourselves and opened Down By The River, llc. I currently hold the title of Vice President of Operations and Marketing and get to continue what I love everyday. Through the use of this blog I hope to not only inform people, but also post relevant information relating to the industry in which I love, work and study. Our personal blogs here at Down By The River, llc are intended to be a tool for our clients to research our growing knowledge base, as well as get to know each of us a little better. We hope that all of you can gain a better understanding of who we are why we love what we do.
As a current student at Full Sail University studying to earn an Internet Marketing Bachelor of Science Degree, I want to share some of my course work in order to stimulate intellectual conversation about the topics relating to my studies and our industry. I believe the best way to understand a topic is through open research and discussion. Within this site you will find a category for my school work, organized by topic or class, that I will use to share the most relevant points I perceive from my course work. I would like to invite everyone to join in the conversation with me in an effort to provide a basis for Transcending Planes of Intellectual Existence Through Knowledge and Understanding. I will also, from time to time, include some of my personal thoughts or current events that I feel are pertinent to life. I look forward to the opportunity to be more interactive with our clients, in addition to having beneficial conversation with anyone who is willing!
